Hi everyone, I'm working with an NGO in Laos in January, has anyone else worked in that part of the world? Would be great to hear from someone with experience on what to expect, especially for shooting. I am currently researching finding a local assistant to work with me there. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Greg

Hi everyone, being a safety training provider I am interested in issues around safety training for NGOs and the relationship between NGOs and the military/private security.
I would also like to make the mebers aware of the safety training Blue Dot provide as it is aimed specifcally at students, freelancers and anyone who doesnt have the funding from a large media organistaiton but still requires essential safety training in the course of their work.
More details at www.bluedotsafety.com
I look forward to your opinions and comments.
Paul.

Hey Everyone!
I'm glad to see a group like this is getting so many members! I wanted to pass along a great site- www.photophilanthropy.com , which gives monetary rewards to photographers shooting for groups like NGOs. The goal is to help encourage photographers donating their time for non-profits.

Hi Marcia,

I just registered to the NGO group. I am very interested to discuss about the relationship between NGO's and photojournalism. I am an humanitarian aid worker for more than 12 years now, and I am passionate of photo documentary. Please keep me in the loop.

Cheers,

Philippe

Just wanted to ensure that the group is aware of our March 1 deadline for applications for the Grants for Good program at Getty Images. If you're a photographer who can work collaboratively with a creative/communications agency and a nonprofit to develop new imagery that will help the nonprofit tell their story more effectively, the program might work for you. Details at www.gettyimges.com/grants.

Good to see this group being formed. I work for Amnesty International in London, but am currently on a one year sabbatical looking at the use of visual media in social activism. Look forward to chatting with you all.

Hi, I hope you don't mind if I join this group from the point of view of a grant maker who works with many NGO's and nonprofits. Our Grants for Good program launched last year to help photographers cover the expenses of working with nonprofits, and generating imagery that would further their mission. So I'm interested in photographers' points of view about this kind of work.
