Hello Paul

Thanks for your reply.I can imagine taking photos and recording sound can be a bit of a problem but as you say in the end it worked ,its a lovely piece of storytelling. Have a look at the Duckrabbit site they have a range of stories on there you may find interesting and Christian Payne who can be found at Documentally.com is a good source of advice in this area. Good luck Paul with future productions.

All the best David

Hello David

The sound 'kit' I use was a marantz 620 solid state recorder which I borrowed.  They are abour £300 to buy, plus a good quality Mic, not sure what it was, but the price of that was around £200. The marantz was easy to learn and use but as you can imagin taking photos and getting sound of the same event was a bit problamatic and at times I didn't know weather to go for the camara or the mic. Even ending up with wires around me, the Mic on a wall, recording and myself standing as far away as I felt safe to leave it while I took photos. In the end it worked, and that is all that mattered.  Thanks for your interest. I will certainly be looking to do more sound / 'slide' production in the future.

regards  Paul

Hello Paul. Congratulations on having the slideshow published on the BBC, its a lovely story.Great images and the voice of the local historian John Buckingham draws you into the story and adds a real depth, character and atmosphere.

Audio slideshows are a great way of storytelling. Its an area I am interested in and recently attended a seminar by a company called Duckrabbit who deliver training in stlls / audio and Christian Payne. We looked at their work and it was brilliant to see how adding sound to still images brought stories to life.

Could I ask a technical question ? What equipment did you use to record the audio as it sounds great. Congratulations again Paul.

All the best David

Its gone very quite on the group site so I thought I would share a bit of my good news with you. My first Audio Slideshow - Obby Oss Celebrations - has just been published on the BBC News web site http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-13293734

It's about the May Day Celebrations in Padstow Cornwall,  England. It's a lot of fun making these slide shows but it's also a lot of work getting the sound, doing an interview and of course getting the photos. However it was well worth it when I saw the final production

all the best Paul
