Time: August 18, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm
Location: open-i webinar
Event Type: live, webinar/debate
Organized By: Jennifer Pollard
Latest Activity: Jul 22, 2012
On July 16th, David Campbell posted a blog article titled 'Famine Iconography as a Sign of Failure,' that resulted in a fierce twitter debate between himself and Jon Levy of Foto8 (the exchange can be viewed here). In this special Open-i event, we have offered David and Jon a public space to explore their arguments in full, each from their own professional perspectives (in more than 120 characters). As the humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa continues, despite waning from the world's headlines, this is an opportunity for members of the photographic and NGO communities to think about issues of representation that have been deeply divisive for decades.
The webinar will take place at 6pm BST (5pm GMT) on Thursday August 18th.
